This masterclass is designed for experienced potters who are confident working independently on the wheel and would like to deepen their throwing skills through the creation of a Korean moon jar. Inspired by the traditional Korean dal-hang-ari, you will learn how to throw larger forms in separate sections, refine their proportions, and carefully join them into one balanced vessel. The focus is on volume, symmetry, surface, and the subtle imperfections that give moon jars their characteristic presence. Throughout the class, we will explore advanced throwing and joining techniques, shaping and refining the form, and the aesthetic principles behind traditional Korean moon jars. Level: Advanced. Participants should have solid wheel-throwing experience and be comfortable centering, pulling larger amounts of clay, and working independently. Please note: This is not a beginner class. Previous wheel-throwing experience is required.
