This masterclass introduces the distinctive world of Korean Buncheong ceramics, known for its expressive surfaces, white slip decoration, and beautifully imperfect character. You will work with dark stoneware clay and learn traditional Buncheong techniques using white slip, including brushing, dipping, carving, scratching, and spontaneous mark-making. The focus is less on perfect surfaces and more on gesture, rhythm, texture, and the individuality of each piece. The class combines historical references with a contemporary approach, giving you the freedom to interpret Buncheong techniques in your own way and develop a personal surface language. Level: Intermediate to advanced. Previous experience working with clay is recommended.
