About the Intensive Pottery Course Level: All levels, beginner-friendly Number of Participants: The course takes place in a small group, allowing for personalised guidance and a relaxed learning atmosphere in the studio. Duration: 4 sessions, each approximately 3 hours. Dates: April 14, 17, 18, 28 Time: 18:00 – 21:00 Language: The class is held in English. Course Program During these four sessions, you will explore different ways of working with clay while learning the essential steps of the ceramic process. From handbuilding and wheel throwing to trimming, decorating, and glazing, this course offers a comprehensive introduction to pottery. Lesson 1 — Introduction to Handbuilding Introduction to basic handbuilding techniques such as pinching and slab building. Participants will create a small form such as a cup, bowl, or plate and experiment with simple textures or surface details. ⸻ Lesson 2 — Introduction to Wheel Throwing Demonstration of wheel throwing fundamentals including centering clay and forming basic shapes. Participants will practice throwing a small cup or bowl on the pottery wheel. ⸻ Lesson 3 — Wheel Practice & Trimming A second wheel throwing session to further practice centering and forming. Introduction to trimming techniques to refine the shape of your pieces. ⸻ Lesson 4 — Surface Decoration & Glazing Final glazing session. Participants will learn different glazing techniques such as brush glazing and dip glazing before their works are fired in the kiln. ⸻ Notes Participants can expect to finish 2–3 ceramic pieces during the course. All materials, tools, glazing, and firings are included. Please wear comfortable clothes that you don’t mind getting a little dirty. Aprons will be provided in the studio.
