About the Intensive Wheel Throwing Course Level: All levels, beginner-friendly Number of Participants: The course takes place in a small group, allowing for personalised guidance and a relaxed learning atmosphere in the studio. Duration: 4 sessions, each approximately 3 hours Dates: Tuesday | November 3, 10, 17, 24 Time: 18:00 – 21:00 Language: The class is held in English ⸻ Course Program Over the course of four sessions, you will focus on learning and developing your skills on the pottery wheel. From your first attempts at centering clay to refining forms and finishing your pieces, this course offers a structured and hands-on introduction to wheel throwing. ⸻ Lesson 1 — Introduction to Wheel Throwing Learn the fundamentals of wheel throwing. You will practice centering clay and create your first simple forms such as cups or bowls. ⸻ Lesson 2 — Trimming & Decoration Learn how to trim your leather-hard pieces to refine their shape and create a clean foot. You will also explore simple decorating techniques and add color using slips or underglazes. ⸻ Lesson 3 — Wheel Throwing: Larger Forms Build on the skills from the first session by practicing larger and more confident forms. The focus is on improving control, consistency, and throwing with more clay. ⸻ Lesson 4 — Trimming & Decoration Trim and finish the pieces from Lesson 3. You will refine their shape and personalize them with decorative details and colored slips or underglazes before firing. ⸻ Glazing Glazing is offered as a separate session and can be booked additionally. This allows you to choose your preferred finishing style and timing. ⸻ Notes * Participants can expect to complete approximately 4–6 ceramic pieces during the course. * All materials, tools, and firings are included. * Please wear comfortable clothes that you don’t mind getting a little dirty. Aprons will be provided in the studio.
