Wheel intensive course - November

Description

Over four sessions, you will learn and develop the essential skills of wheel throwing. From your first attempts at centering clay to refining, decorating, and finishing your pieces, the course offers a structured and hands-on introduction to working on the pottery wheel. Day 1: Throwing Learn the fundamentals of wheel throwing. You will practice centering clay and create your first simple forms, such as cups and bowls. Day 2: Trimming & Decorating Learn how to trim your leather-hard pieces to refine their shape and create a clean foot. You will also explore simple decorating techniques and add color using slips or underglazes. Day 3: Throwing Build on the skills from the first session and develop more confidence at the wheel. You will practice creating larger and more consistent forms, with a focus on improving control and working with more clay. Day 4: Trimming & Finishing Trim and finish the pieces created during Day 3. Refine their shapes and personalize them with decorative details, slips, or underglazes before their first firing. Glazing & Firing After the course, we will bisque-fire your finished pieces. You can then choose between two options: 1. Glazing Service (+€25) We apply a transparent glaze to your pieces, glaze-fire them, and finish them for you. Once everything is ready, we will notify you to arrange a pickup. 2. Glazing Class (+€45) If you would like to choose from different glazes and finish your pieces yourself, you can book one of our Glazing Classes separately. This gives you the opportunity to explore different colors and finishes and complete your pieces by hand. Your instructor will be happy to explain both options during the course and help you choose the finish that works best for your pieces. Number of Participants: Small group, maximum 4 participants Duration: 4 sessions, approximately 3 hours each Language: English Level: All levels, beginner-friendly. No previous experience is required. Good to Know: - Participants can expect to complete approximately 4-6 ceramic pieces during the course. - All clay, materials, tools, and firings are included. - Transparent glazing can be added through our Glazing Service. - For individual glaze colors and finishes, a separate Glazing Class can be booked. - Please wear comfortable clothes that you don’t mind getting a little dirty. Aprons are provided in the studio.
